The Farm Energy Company is bringing forward plans to develop a six-turbine wind farm at South Hourat, to support the operations of DSM-Firmenich.
Welcome
Following feedback from North Ayrshire Council in response to our Scoping Request, we have now submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to the local authority, kickstarting the minimum 12-week statutory pre-application consultation period. During this period, we are seeking to gather feedback from the local community and other interested stakeholders.

Our Proposals
Our initial assessments for the site suggest it could accommodate a six-turbine wind farm with a generating capacity of up to 25.6MW.
In November 2024, we submitted a request Scoping Opinion to North Ayrshire Council to seek feedback on our initial proposals. The Scoping Request helps us to understand the environmental information that consultees would like to see accompany any potential subsequent application for the wind farm.
More details on our proposals, including our consultation materials from our first round of consultation, will be available to view from 14 May.
Project Overview
About The Farm Energy Company

Working closely with a wide range of existing businesses to provide low-cost, green, renewable energy, our projects support investments from local businesses to diversify and secure their energy supply and transition to a more sustainable energy market.
